The Haagse School is a musical movement that, beginning in the second half of the 20th century, has grouped together composers such as Louis Andriessen, Gilius van Bergeijk, Dick Raaymakers, and Martijn Padding among others.
Gene Carl wrote about the Haagse School in 1987, saying that “Characteristic of the Hague School is loud, aggressive, rhythmically energetic music that is averse to any neo-romantic sentiment and is often enhanced or manipulated electronically.”
Now, a new generation has risen and brings their music to the attention of a worldwide audience. On this evening of the 3rd of December during the Dag in de Branding Festival we will see works from this next generation. Do they fully agree with their teachers, moving this line of thought forward, or will they have new things to say? Join us at the concert to find out!
