                                               Artistic Mission and Goals:

Modelo62 maintains an uncompromising commitment to producing performances and recordings of new chamber works by emerging and established composers of international scope at the highest artistic level, via intimate composer/performer collaborations, presented before an increasingly broad, varied, and engaged public.

Although new and extant works may be juxtaposed on the same programme, the emphasis lies upon compositions commissioned by the 12-member ensemble.  In principle, there is a preference for the presentation of an identical programme in multiple contexts, as a means of  increasing exposure and integrating a work into ensemble's core repertoire, rather than merely presenting premières.  It is intended that such rigorous and continued interaction generates a fruitful dialogue between performers and composers, and extending this dialogue to audiences, as they experience myriad aesthetics and approaches.

While bearing no specific aesthetic or "political" agenda, Modelo62 advocates works that are experimental in nature, challenging conventionally-accepted limits and assumptions. As such, they are willing to confront any proposed technical or conceptual demand.  Works involving guest performers, improvisation, music theatre, and other media are more than welcome.

The ensemble has engaged in an impressive array of projects over the past several years, including opera productions, performance-installations, and film- scoring. Furthermore, Modelo62 has performed on several international festivals, and premiered numerous works in major venues across the Netherlands. Henceforth, this ongoing concert activity shall be complemented by tours, exchanges, and other related events within continental Europe (e.g., to various venues in Belgium, Germany, and Norway), the UK, and eventually the US, Canada, and South America.

As a complement to its performances, the ensemble has participated in various pedagogical activities, including workshops for young composers and performers. It is hoped that the ensemble's involvement in educational projects will continue to expand in the coming years.
